Last night as we were laying in bed talking, Brad said he was going to drive in to the ferry in the morning and would take Nate to seminary on his way. Yipee! I thought. I'll get to sleep in!
Here's how the night/early morning went:
11:15 Lights out
1:43 Jillian woke up. She'd had a nightmare and wanted to sleep in Kylie's room.
2:12 Ben woke up. He'd had a nightmare. I tucked him back in.
5:45 Ben woke up again. I tucked him back in.
6:30 Brad's alarm went off and he got up.
6:45 Ben woke up again and crawled in bed with me.
7:05 Matzo started barking at something outside.
7:15 Brad came into the room looking for the check book.
7:20 Nate came into the room looking for his library card.
7:35 Kylie started practicing her bass clarinet.
7:45 I finally gave up and got out of bed.
Oh well, it was the thought that counts, right?
The next time you want to sleep in, you'll have to either go get a hotel room, or send the rest of the family away (including the dog).
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, 7:45am IS sleeping in around here. I'm up, dressed, family scripture & prayer done, Emma to the bus, and half way through teaching a Latin lesson by 7:45am. Ugh.
BTW - what time does seminary start, if Nate was still home at 7:20?
oh, brutal! those middle-of-the-night hours are supposed to ignored and skipped over, not NOTED! but alas, sounds like one of my nights around here. someday they'll be grown and gone and maybe we'll miss it? I don't think I'll ever miss it. :)
ReplyDeleteSound like every night at our house. I feel for you!
ReplyDeleteIt does get better when everyone is grown and gone! Wait, then they come back with their children! But, the good thing about that is you may hear them cry but you don't have to get up and get them!
ReplyDeleteSorry Jenny! If anyone needs a day to sleep in..it's you! Don't worry, the retreat is very soon.
ReplyDeleteYeah, whoever said that kids start sleeping though the night by their 1st Birthday was sooooo wrong. I think it's just a fallicy to say that anyone will ever get 8 hours of straight sleep! Look at me...here I am and it's almost 1am and I'm on the computer! CRAZY! Sure, my kids have been sleeping peacefully since 8pm but I'm sure any minute when I finally decide to go to sleep that they will be waking up with night terrors. ARGH! You would think that I would learn and got to bed earlier. It's just so hard when you have loads of things to do and when I finally get a moment to myself I just can't stop crossing things off my list. Plus somehow I get a crazy surge of energy around 11pm and my body just doesn't want to go to bed that early. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteha...this might be an explanation to the earplugs my mom started wearing :)
