Ben was only in school for 45 minutes today; they went in small groups to meet the teacher, tour the school, read a story, and find out about their bus routes. Ben's teacher seems very sweet. She's young and petite and enthusiastic. I felt like a giant standing next to her. Ben's class has only 15 kids, 11 are boys! I'm happy about the small class size, and I'm sure the teacher will be, too.
Here's Jill getting on the bus. She was a little embarassed that I was taking the picture, but who cares?!
Ben standing outside his classroom. The bus drops him off right in front. His teacher brought the dress she is going to wear to school tomorrow to show the kids so they would know what to look for. How cute is that?
Ben at his desk. Those little blue chairs sure are small! The parents sat in them and cut out shapes while the teacher talked to the kids. I could only fit about half of myself on one!
Can you tell which one is the teacher? (Oh, and that's the dress she's going to wear, hanging on the white board!)
They all came home with good things to say about their day. I feel so blessed that my kids all love to read and are interested in learning. (Well, Ben doesn't read yet, but he's excited to learn and loves to be read to.) I'm happy to be getting back into a routine again, although I'll probably have to start nagging about homework soon.
Wow how exciting to have all of the kids in school! What are you going to do with all of your free time now! You must be looking forward to that! I'm glad that everyone had a successful first day of classes. Great photos of the kids!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the pictures! Wanna come photograph my kids? My camera is so lousy, it only takes blurry pictures most of the time. (A new camera is on top of my Christmas list, which I'm already writing.)
ReplyDeleteWhat ARE you going to do with yourself when all 4 kids are gone? I'll be so jealous if you say "read" or "take long walks."
At least this year you have kids at only 3 schools. Next year you will be spread clear across the island. I think you should volunteer for ALL the PTOs. :-)
You are a great photographer. How about using those skills to shoot my kids photos too?
ReplyDeletePs-Rylan really enjoyed seeing Ben's 1st day of school photos.
xoxo
It's all in the camera! I bought a new one about a year ago and I love it. It's a Canon A710 IS if that means anything to you (it doesn't to me!)
ReplyDeleteAs far as free time, I've really only got 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon. My plan is to use that as my "writing time". I did crank out one whole page yesterday! Next year will be the test of "what do I do with myself" when Ben's in 1st grade. Brad's already asking me if I'm going back to school or getting a job.
I can't believe how grown up your kids are! Nate's in High School? Time sure has flown by. I bet you're excited to have a bit of free time now.
