How to Make a Rocket Pinata

What do you do when your soon-to-be-seven-year-old wants to have a "Rocket Party" for his birthday and really, really, really wants a rocket pinata and you go to the store you think might have pinatas to find they only have Transformers and Sponge Bob pinatas? You make your own Rocket Pinata, of course!

I know this is a very simple craft and almost anyone could figure out on their own how to make it (I did!), but I've always wanted to do one of those step-by-step tutorials, complete with pictures, so here you have it!

Step One: Gather your materials, well, almost all of them. The others you run around trying to find as you go once you realize that you need them.

Step Two: Using the plate, trace a circle on the cardboard.

Step Three: Cut out the circle.

Step Four: Cut a slit in the circle and form it into a cone.

Step Five: Decorate the cone:

Step Six: Poke a hole in the top of the oatmeal container and feed the hanger through.

Step Seven: Spread a bead of hot glue on the oatmeal container and glue on construction paper to cover it.

Step Eight: Decorate some more!

Step Nine: (The most difficult part!) Cut a slit in the top of the cone. Spread a bead of hot glue around the top rim of the oatmeal container, then quickly thread the hanger through the slit in the cone and glue the cone onto the top of the oatmeal container. I had to do this twice because the first time it was crooked.

Step Ten: Hot glue streamers to the lid of the oatmeal container, put the lid onto the bottom of the rocket.

And voila! You have a very cool rocket pinata! And a very happy almost-seven-year-old son!
