Breaking the Barrier

No, not the sound barrier!  I'm not that fast!  But I finally made it up to 6 mph on my runs.  OK, it was only a 3.25 mile run, but hey, I've got to start somewhere!  I've been hovering around 6 for a while, 5.7, 5.8, 5.95 and just couldn't get past it.  Today I really pushed myself, thought I was going to die, and almost passed out when I saw 31:45 on my iPod stopwatch.  That's a whole minute faster than I did on Wednesday.  Whoo hooo for me!   I have to set these little goals for myself or I would give up all together.  I'm disappointed that my physical therapist cut me down to 3 miles while I work on strengthening my knee, so I figured I'd work on the speed.  My ultimate goal is still to do 5 miles in 50 minues.  If I would have started ten years ago, maybe I'd be there by now!

  1. Bravo!! Keep it up. You are doing so great with your running. I love how you set goals and keep working at them.

You're an inspiration (she types as she sits at her computer, feeding her face and trying to remember the last time she ran. . .) :-P

  2. That's great! I don't have any running goals--I just run when I have to for psychological health. That means that if I'm not stressed or upset or sad, no running gets done at all. Methinks your way is better. :)
