After a few years hiatus, Gretchen, Brooke and I finally got together to take the kids camping! Brooke found a wonderful spot on the East side of the Cascades where we would almost certainly be guaranteed sun and warmth. It was a little campground on Cle Elum Lake called Wish Poosh. Funny name, but awesome place! The first day the kids had a blast playing in the "sinking sand" on the lake...Ben and Cash in the pictures below are literally sunk up to their knees, then waists, in quick sand.
It's been a dry summer...Cle Elum Lake is a reservoir and this picture shows only a bit of the "beach," which is usually covered with water.
They swam a bunch, too, after they got tired of seeing if they could sink to their necks in quick sand.
Jillian was so sweet to play with and hold Torah.
She enjoyed sunbathing, too.
Boogie boarding!
Back at the campground. Gretchen found two awesome sites next to each other with a huge wooded area in between for the kids to play in.
The little girls playing...
Jane found this burned out stump and we couldn't keep her away from it!
We split up the cooking duties and Gretchen's dinner was a huge hit!
Dutch oven lasagna and blueberry cobbler for dessert! Yum!
The next day we asked a local for a recommendation of where to go to play in the river. She suggested the Cooper River bridge a few miles up the road.
There was a great spot right near the bridge that we played in for a while.
But then we decided to explore some more and a little further down was an amazing spot!
Clear pools to swim in, rocks to jump off and sun ourselves on, rapids to float down,
and a great beach area for our picnic!
Gorgeous!
We vowed to come back next year!
Oh gosh, I want to relive that fabulous trip again!!! Only without poor Gretchen being pregnant. And without a possibly broken toe. :-/
