Prepping for Halloween

Getting ready for Halloween is almost as fun as the actual holiday!  First, Jillian made these awesome mummy cupcakes so we could "Boo" some friends.

Then we had to figure out costumes.  Ben started out wanting to be a Yetti (like an abominable snowman), so I went to Goodwill and bought anything fleecy and white that I could find.  I was having a hard time figuring out how I was going to turn a white fleece turtleneck and white fleece mattress cover into a Yetti costume, when he changed his mind and decided he wanted to be a "Paint Splatter Guy." OK.  Fortunately, Mariann was in town and she helped us figure out how to properly splatter paint!

This was a practice run on an old t-shirt, just to see how much paint and what consistency we needed.

Like I said, fortunately Mariann was in town to help us figure these things out! She was great at testing the paint's consistency! Yum!

A work in progress...

Ben really enjoyed creating his costume and was happy with the results!

Jillian also painted her costume. She was Captain America and painted a blue, hooded sweatshirt with a big, silver star, and red and white stripes.  And we had our annual trip to the pumpkin patch and then our pumpkin carving evening with the Kollodges.  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera both times!  Actually, I brought my camera to the pumpkin patch, but it was my broken camera, so I couldn't take pictures. It was a quick trip, and not many pumpkins were left since we waited until two days before Halloween.  But it was still a beautiful, sunny afternoon and we enjoyed walking through the fields choosing our pumpkins.
