Worth the Wait!

The first day of school was August 29th, for Kylie and Jillian, anyway.  Ben had to wait until today, September 4th, because the new Wilkes wasn't quite done!  We found out at 1:00 the day before school was supposed to start that it wasn't going to happen.  Although the classrooms were just about ready, there were issues with the safety fencing not being in place, so the school board decided it would be better to be safe and hold off until after Labor Day.  I wish the whole district would have started after Labor Day, but that's another story.  

Ben was delighted pretty disappointed to have an extra three days of summer.  Finally, today was the big day and I decided I wanted to see the new school, too, so I drove him this morning.  It is beautiful, and well worth the wait!

The cafeteria, or "Commons" also on the lower level.  Their old school didn't have a cafeteria.  They ate lunch in their classrooms, so this will be a fun, new experience.

(Ben's classroom is at the very back of the school.  There is this main hallway, with four "wings" branching out.  Each wing is a different grade level, so the 4th graders are on the last wing.)  Camille Hooyer and Hannah Harris just happened to be walking down the hall together when I took this picture.
