Jillian got her braces on this past Friday!  She woke up that morning and said she didn't feel well, that she had a stomach ache and a sore throat.  Kind, sympathetic mother that I am, I told her she was fine and probably just a little nervous about getting braces and was maybe getting a cold.  So off we went to the orthodontist.  She declined a milkshake afterwards (that should have been a clue!) so I took her straight to school.  When she got home, she felt, and looked, terrible.  She said she turned purple at school from being so cold, but she was burning up with a fever.  I sent her straight to bed and when she woke up Saturday morning, she was still very feverish and felt even worse.  Brad looked in her throat and her tonsils were huge and covered in puss.  Strep throat!  Poor thing suffered through an achy mouth and strep throat at the same time.  At least she slept most of the time and got to drink cool, soothing beverages!  She's feeling much better now, thanks to penicillin and Advil!
