Jillian finally got her snow day...

after three days of wishing and hoping! And we're getting another one tomorrow, so it looks like Christmas Break (yes, I still call it Christmas Break even though I know the PC term is Winter Break) is starting early. I'm so glad I got all the shopping done last Friday before the snow hit! Now we can sit back, make and eat tons of Christmas cookies, play in the snow, and enjoy our hard earned break. I'm mostly excited about sleeping in.

By noon, Kylie was on the hunt for a good sledding spot. Our yard is pretty flat, the only hill is in the woods and heads straight to the highway. She really wanted to go to her friend's house about 4 miles up the highway, but she has a mom who is a big chicken and refused to drive in the snow. We ended up walking up to our neighbor's house and taking advantage of their multi-hilled yard.

This is Ben standing on the road we walked up to our neighbor's. Looks pretty icy, doesn't it? See why I didn't want to drive?! I know all you Utahns and Idahoans and Coloradans and everyone else who isn't from Bainbridge Island (and maybe some who are) are laughing at me, but I don't care. I'm safe and cozy!

The kids all got their fill of sledding for the day. I'm sure we'll be back at it tomorrow! Let it snow!

  2. Hey I live in UT and we get this kind of snow but there's no way I'd go driving out in it on Bainbridge. We have tons of snowplows and lots of salt to get it off the roads...you're just left to prayers and luck! :) Enjoy your break!

  3. Yay for Jillian!! We haven't had a snow day yet. I think both times the snow hit at times where it could be cleaned up before the next school day. I love snow days...well once in awhile. Looks like a fun time sledding!!

  4. Nathan is one of those rude people who would laugh at you for not driving, but I totally agree with you! He was out all day (and night) yesterday - 2 trips to Silverdale/Poulsbo, all over the island, even down to Fort Ward. He didn't get home until 11pm - just to prove that it can be done. I just say, "You're crazy! And I hope your life insurance is up to date." :-)
